Jr. Ducks 16U forward Hummitsch signs NAHL tender

The Anaheim Jr. Ducks of the North American Prospects Hockey League have announced that 16U forward Riley Hummitsch has signed an NAHL tender with the Coulee Region Chill.
Hummitsch, 16, is a big power forward at 6’1/200 and was over a point per game player for the 16U Ducks this past season. Despite missing time this past season with an injury, the native of Yorba Linda, California, managed to record 20 points (11 goals, 9 assists) in just 17 NAPHL regular season games. That ranked him 4th on the team in scoring despite missing some games. The Ducks finished with the second best record in the NAPHL 16U Division with a mark of 19-2-1 and 39 points.
In the NAPHL Championship series, Hummitsch recorded a team-high three goals in four playoff games and finished with four points as the Ducks went 2-1-1, just missing out on a Semi-Final berth.
Last season, Hummitsch also played in the NAPHL for the Orange County 16U club where as a defenseman, recorded nine points in 17 games played.
Hummitsch is the third member of this past year’s Ducks 16U team to sign an NAHL tender joining Shane McMahan (Fairbanks) and Elijah Barriga (Amarillo)

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2013.
