Texas 18U forward Dierl signs NAHL tender

The Corpus Christi IceRays have announced the signing of Texas forward Tommy Dierl to a tender for next season. Dierl, from Allen, Texas finished third in scoring on the NAPHL’s Texas Tornado 18U team.
“Tommy is another success story from Texas where he is a player we are familiar with and was teammates with Chris Stovall last season,” said head coach Justin Quenneville. “He had a great season and we look forward to seeing him at Main Camp this summer.”
In 21 games this year with the Texas Tornado 18U in the PHL, Dierl notched 13 goals and 14 assists along with 36 penalty minutes. In playoffs, the 6ft 175lb forward assisted three goals in four games.
This is the first NAPHL signing by the IceRays this season.
“We had a lot of success signing players from the PHL with Heuser, Hutton and Schulz all respectively coming from U16 programs last year,” Quenneville finished.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2013.
