16U:

Biggby Coffee 4 @ Lincoln Stars 3 - LIN battled back late in the third, yet BIG was able to hold them off to secure the 4-3 win. BIG got the scoring started early in this game. Durussel got the scoring started with 10:42 left in the first period after a pass by Rojek. Their combined effort put BIG on top of the scoreboard 1-0 and just 37 seconds later Antaya secured a goal of his own to make it 2-0 just about midway through the period. Determined to cut the lead in half before the start of the second period LIN applied pressure which paid off, with 5:53 in the opening period as Bicknell found the back of the net making it a 2-1 game going into the second. The first half of the second period remained quiet but with just over eight minutes to go Odonohue secured a goal with Lehnertz and Johnson picking up the assist. These young men would be tested as both teams went on respective power plays late in the second. Yet, the penalty kill stood strong ensuring that the score remained 3-1 going into the final period of play. After an assist in the second period, Lehnertz secorded a goal of his own making it a three goal deficit late in the game for LIN. When everything seemed to be going the other way, the young men for LIN stood tall. They were determined not to give up, and their perseverance paid off when Powers secured two goals in under a minute to play in the period, setting up a dramatic finish with LIN falling just short 4-3. Each team demonstrated positive outcomes in their Tier 16 game. BIG demonstrated key offensive strategies that allowed them to take the early lead and LIN demonstrated strong mental toughness to ensure they stayed disciplined throughout the game, putting themselves back within one when it had seemed that it was all but over for them
