SHOW Final Face-Off Opens with a Bang

Day One of the SHOW Final Face-Off did not disappoint, with great games across every division setting the tone for what’s shaping up to be an electric championship weekend. To check out the full day of final scores be sure to click here.
18U Gold:
The Orange County Hockey Club moves to 7-2 on the season after last night’s thrilling overtime victory over Denver Hockey. Orange County got on the board early in the contest as Michael Nilsen found the back of the net at the 12:07 mark in the opening frame. Denver responded with two goals, scored by Nolan Darlington and Andrew Ennis in the second period, to gain the lead. Landyn Morton tied the contest with his goal for Orange County in the final frame, and Nilsen came back with the game-winning goal in overtime.
18U Silver:
Monument Hockey Academy pulls off an incredible comeback to defeat the Tri-Valley Bulls by a final score of 5-4. After outshooting Monument 11-8 in the first period, the Bulls led 3-1 heading into the first intermission. Early in the second, the Bulls scored a power play goal to extend the lead to 4-1. Despite getting outshot in both the second and third periods, Monument found the back of the net four times, with two of those goals being on the power-play and one shorthanded. The game winner came with only three seconds remaining in the final frame as Monument secured the comeback to win the game.
North Broward Prep pulls off an incredible comeback to defeat the Capital Flames by a final score of 4-3. After a scoreless first period, Capital scored three of the first four goals, including a power-play goal from Remi Gauthier. Then, with less than ten minutes left in the game, North Broward began the comeback. A pair of goals from Cooper Emerson tied the game, and it appeared like overtime was set to take place. However, the Flames took a penalty with 1:45 left in the game, and North Broward took advantage as Tommy Isbister scored on the power play to win the game.
16U Gold:
In Gold Division play, the Anaheim Jr. Ducks picked up a hard-fought 3–2 win over the California Heat. Anaheim struck first in the opening period when Nicholas Sauritch scored at 7:17 to give the Jr. Ducks a 1–0 lead. The second period saw the scoring pick up. Lucas Wildern extended Anaheim’s lead at 12:28, but the Heat responded with two goals of their own. Gevork Sulyan scored on the power play, followed by Hrach Chtrkýan’s even-strength tally to tie the game at 2–2 heading into the third. Special teams made the difference late, as Roger Kapner netted a power-play goal at 8:55 of the third to secure the win for Anaheim. Gavin Dominek earned the victory in goal, helping the Jr. Ducks hold on for the one-goal result.
16U Silver:
The Lake County Vipers picked up a big win over the Texas Jr. Brahmas. The Vipers lit up the scoreboard seven different times with six different goal scorers. Aaron Krivopisk, Brek Lyndon, Drew Sager, Grayson Friend, and Levi Stalker each scoring one goal, and Chace Borgford scoring 2 goals. Bennett Forman and Brek Lydon both having multiple assists as well. The defense from the Vipers was suffocating only allowing 16 shots to be taken on target. In the net for the Vipers, Carlton Kiesig had a save percentage of` 75% allowing 4 goals on 16 shots on goal. The Vipers show off offensive fire power in a 7-4 win over the Jr. Brahmas.
The California Wave picking up a big win over the San Deigo Jr. Gulls. The Wave put the puck in the back of the net 5 different times with only 3 different goal scorers. Caden Fernandez and Isaac Macarthur each scoring 1 goal apiece. Nathaniel Henderson scoring a hat trick in the contest. Jensen Hoem also had a hat trick of assists as well in this matchup. In the back for the Wave their keeper, Chase Romero, had 15 saves on 18 shots on goal, allowing 3 to go in. Romero finished with an 83% save percentage. The Wave get some momentum going after a shaky start to the tournament.
14U:
The San Diego Jr. Gulls started their event slowly. In their first game against Nest Hockey Academy, the Jr. Gulls were unable to rally a win, and only got on the board once during the entire game with a goal from Michael Belanger Jr. in the second period. They lost 1-8 against Nest Hockey Academy in their morning match. The Jr. Gulls, however, were able to bounce back from their loss earlier in the day with their second game against the SISU Thunderbirds. In the second period, the Jr. Gulls got on the board with goals from London Arel and Valentino Gaddis, while the Thunderbirds managed to get one goal on the board. In the third period, the Jr. Gulls cemented their win with two more goals, one from Owen Beierschmitt and one from Michael Belanger Jr. for a 4-2 win against the Thunderbirds.
