Omaha 16U forward Thompson goes in WHL draft

The Omaha AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that forward Baron Thompson (Lakeville , Minnesota) has been selected by the Victoria Royals in the 3rd round (57th overall) in the 2014 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft held in Calgary, Alberta.
Thompson, 15, had a solid season for the Omaha AAA 16U team appearing in 28 games and collecting 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points on the year.
in 10 NAPHL games played this season, Thompson recorded six points.
Thompson was still Bantam AAA eligible this past season , but the 6'5/225lb power forward opted to play up for the Omaha AAA 16U team that was a bronze medalist at the USA Hockey National Tournament and the #2 ranked 16U Tier I Team in the country.
Victoria has now selected an Omaha AAA 16U player in the 4th round or higher in 3 of the last 4 years beginning with Chris Wilkie in 2011 and Ethen Frank in 2013.
