SHOW League crowns 2024 Champions
The 2024 NAPHL SHOW League Championship concluded on Monday, January 15th at the Buffalo Wild Wings Arena in Troy, Michigan.
Five different champions were crowned including Gold and Silver titles in the 18U and 16U Divisions and a 14U Champion.
The SHOW is a collection of Tier I and Tier II organizations from all over North America that compete at the Tier I level at NAPHL events. It also includes teams from some of the strongest Tier II leagues in the United States.
Since the inception of the SHOW League there have been an increased number of opportunities for players at the NAHL, NA3HL, and T1ER Leagues. The internal exposure elements inclusive of an exclusive tendering system and the strategically schedule events have proven to be very beneficial to the players competing in the SHOW League.
Day 4 recaps
14U: In the morning games, despite knowing they had already punched their ticket to the title game, the Orland Park Vikings wrapped up pool play with a 4-0 shutout of Vegas. Lucas Gehrig had 16 saves in the win and goals were scored by Ethan Lopez, Jonah Derengowski, Logan Sterling and Nick Pigatto. In the final round-robin game, the North Carolina Golden Bears shutout the Ontario Jr. Reign, 2-0. Noah Hall and James Bradshaw scored in the win and Daniel Rinaldo had a 14-save shutout.
In the Championship game, the Orland Park Vikings capped a perfect 5-0 record at the event and won the 14U SHOW Championship thanks to a 6-1 win over the Park City Ice Miners. Ethan Lopez scored twice in the win and Kaden Wolfe made 16 saves in the win. Makai Tu had the lone goal for Park City in the loss.
16U Gold Championship: In the 16U Gold Championship Game, the Orland Park Vikings came from behind to beat the Chicago Hawks, 5-3. The Hawks went up 2-0 early in the game with goals from Penn Russell and Henry Lecauchois, but the Vikings stormed back with five straight goals from AJ Ackerson, Mitchell Gawel, Luke Riechers, Joey Bledsoe and Logan Skocaj to secure the win. Giancarlo Petrucci would add a late goal for the Hawks to complete the 5-3 score. Vikings goalie Aidan Millerick made 15 saves in the win.
16U Silver Championship: The Rose City Pats jumped out to an early lead and held off a late charge from the Park City Ice Miners in a 4-3 shootout win. Rose City jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Adrian Beaudry and Jacob Jimenez-Lopez. Park City tied the game at 2-2 with goals from Nils Brown and Ryker Johnson. In the 3rd period, Rose City took a 3-2 lead on a goal from Richard Walla, but the Ice Miners equalized with :20 seconds left in regulation on a goal from Hunter Hutchison. In the shootout, a goal from Jordan Marquez would be the difference.
18U Gold Championship: The Chicago Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead and cruised to a 5-2 win over the Chicago Flames. The Hawks led 2-0 after one period thanks to goals from Ryan Good and Andrew Nuget. Josh Taylor would add his sixth goal of the event in the 2nd period and Leo Kotor and Liam Lecauchois added goals in the 3rd period. Brian Reynolds and Jason Gongol would score goals for the Flames in the loss. Cooper Darovic made 14 saves in the win.
18U Silver Championship: Pacific Ridge came from behind to defeat the SISU Thunderbirds, 5-3. SISU jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the 1st period thanks to goals from Reed Hinton, Andy James, and Drew Lause, while Neelan Patel had the lone goal for Pacific Ridge. The comeback started and ended in the 2nd period as Pacific Ridge scored four goals to take a 5-3 win, which included a hat-trick from Gerland Smith and a goal from Bennett Park. Rhys Larscheid made 23 saves in the win.
