SHOW League moves onto Championship Monday

January 15, 2024

The 2024 SHOW League Championship continued on Sunday, January 14th in Michigan with the final round-robin action in the 18, 16, and 14U levels. The event takes place from January 12-15 in Troy and Rochester, Michigan. All games will take place at Buffalo Wild Wings Arena in Troy and Suburban Ice in Rochester. 

The 2024 SHOW League Championship takes place during the NA3HL Tender distribution exclusive to the SHOW League. A champion will be crowned in both Gold and Silver Divisions. 

Divisions, competition and playoff seeding were determined by a series of data points utilized by the NAPHL Power Rankings. 

Admission to the Championship is free to the public.

Day 3 recaps:

14U: The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights dominated the game with a 6-0 victory over the Ontario Jr. Reign. Taanissh Devarasetty, Ryan Faivre, Elijah Gable, Aleksandar Brnilovich, and Mattox McCauley showcased their scoring prowess. In a closely contested match, the Park City Ice Miners secured a 4-3 victory against the North Carolina Golden Bears. Wyatt Nellis, John Hemmesch, and Makai Tu were instrumental in the win. The Orland Park Vikings showcased dominance with a 9-0 victory over the Ontario Jr. Reign. Des Gill, Chase Riechers, Nick Mercer, Colin Hughes, Ethan Lopez, Kale deFreese, and Nick Pigatto were key contributors. The Park City Ice Miners secured a 6-4 victory over the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights in an exciting match. Mattox McCauley, Gavin Perkins, Ryan Fitzmeyer, Beau Blakley, and John Hemmesch played pivotal roles in this thrilling encounter.

16U Gold Semi-Finals: In the first Semi-Final, it was all Chicago Hawks as they beat the California Wave, 7-2. Penn Russell had two goals, Benas Macenis had two points, and Joshua Kundert made 28 saves in the win. Brian Pajar and William Schnorr scored in the loss. In the other Semi-Final, the Orland Park Vikings scored four goals in the 1st period on their way to a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Crunch 07. Mitchell Gawel had two goals and an assist in the win and Max Degen, Logan Skocaj, and Nathan Struzik each had a goal and an assist in the win. Brody Levering made 40 saves in the loss. 

16U Silver Semi-Finals: The Rose City Pats got 18 saves from Wayne Gray and two goals from Luis Gorocica III in a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Crunch 08. Hayden Jones scored the lone goal for Tampa in the loss. In the other Semi-Final, Wyatt Strahan and Ryker Johnson each had two goals and an assist and Alex Harhi made 20 saves to lead the Park City Ice Miners to a 6-2 win over the Ontario Jr. Reign. Benjamin Juraj Sepak had both goals for Ontario in the loss. 

16U Consolation: The Chicago Jets secured a 5-2 victory against the North Carolina Golden Bears. Marty Nitsche, Jack Jesanis, Jonathan Vodnik, Emmet Lippitz, and Andrew Gumbach contributed to the win, countering goals by Connor Jones and Mason Hess. The Santa Clara Blackhawks emerged victorious with a 4-2 win against the Portland Winterhawks. Reed Delancey, Benjamin Hulten, and Dominic Powell scored for Santa Clara, while Kruz Barnes and Ellis Austin found the net for Portland. The Midwest Blackbirds dominated with a 5-1 victory over Tahoe Hockey Academy. Talon Schackmann, Jaxson Joiner, Luca Rodrigue, and Luke Hayden scored for Midwest, and Magnus Eisler netted the lone goal for Tahoe. SISU Thunderbirds dominated Utah Jr. Mustangs Red with a convincing 10-1 win. Ethan Baker tallied a hat trick in the victory. Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue emerged victorious with a 5-3 win against the St. Louis Sting. Camden McDonald, Hunter Jaques, Cody Wheelwright, London McDougall, and Harper Brent all buried goals for Utah. 

18U Gold Semi-Finals: In the first Semi-Final, the Chicago Flames came from behind to beat the Philadelphia Little Flyers, 4-3. Joe Corridon and Sam Harper each had a goal and an assist in the win, while Colin Helkowski scored all three goals in the Little Flyers loss. In the other Semi-Final, the Chicago Hawks erased deficits of 3-0 and 4-1 to come from behind to beat the Pilot Mound Buffaloes, 7-5. Andrew Nuget had a hat-trick and Josh Taylor scored two goals in the win. Kalix Monkman had a goal and two assists in the loss for Pilot Mound. 

18U Silver Semi-Finals: In the first Semi-Final, the SISU Thunderbirds got 3rd period goals from Eli McCarthy, Nathaniel Novotny, and Chandler Smith in the 3-1 win over Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue. Nicholas Nanberg made 21 saves in the win. Vincent Campbell had the lone goal in the Utah loss. In the other Semi-Final, Pacific Ridge got 3rd period goals from Torrey Man, Gerald Smith, and Logan Mazzella in a 3-1 win over Tahoe Prep. Ryhs Larscheid made 20 saves in the win, while Derrick Pedersen had the lone goal for Tahoe in the loss. 

18U Consolation: The New Jersey Jr Titans secured a 5-1 victory against the Dallas Penguins. Devonte Krizka, Luke Gensinger, James Caldwell-Withrow, Tarik Mrkva, and Cole Klein contributed to the win, countering Kristofer Pope's goal for Dallas. The New Hampshire Monarchs dominated with a 5-1 victory over the Ontario Jr. Reign. Aiden Palmeter found the back of the net twice in the victory. The Orland Park Vikings emerged victorious with a 7-4 win against Texas Tigers. Aidan Blokel tallied a hat trick in the victory. The Rose City Pats secured a thrilling 7-6 shootout victory against the Houston Aeros. Taha Saiyed, Dylan Valdez, Hunter Yates, and Noah Rebollo-Pena all scored for Rose City in regulation. The  Pekin Dragons dominated with a 7-2 victory over San Diego Jets HS. Owen Gruden, Joshua Weber potted a pair of goals for the Dragons. Monument Hockey Academy secured a 5-1 victory over Utah Jr. Mustangs Red. Tucker Sarkisian, Jarren Garner, Harold Stauffer, and Horatio Arnold scored for Monument, while Easton Swenson scored for Utah. The St. Louis Sting emerged victorious with a 7-1 win against Tri-Valley Hockey Association. Colin Ammel buried three goals en route to the dominant win. The Chicago Jets secured a 4-1 victory against Golden State Elite 18U. Matthew Lizak, Sean Raihle, Liam Keohane, and Patryk Niemiec all found the back of the net for Chicago. Denver East secured a 4-0 shutout victory over the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Noah Schreiber, Peter Krug, Taylen Bennett, and Elijah Huck Tomberg contributed to Denver East's win. SISU Thunderbirds emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue. Eli McCarthy, Nathaniel Novotny, and Chandler Smith scored for SISU, while Vincent Campbell found the net for Utah. Pacific Ridge Hockey Club defeated Tahoe Prep Academy 3-1. Torrey Man, Gerald Smith, and Logan Mazzella tallied goals for Pacific Ridge.
