SHOW League action heat up Blaine on Day 2

The NAPHL’s SHOW League continued its second event of the season at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, MN, on Friday, December 15th as the 14 and 16U teams took to the ice for a second day and were joined by the 18U clubs. The event runs from December 15-18. The event is being played in cooperation with a T1ER 18U and 16U regional event, as well as, the 2023 NA3HL Showcase.

The SHOW is a collection of Tier I and Tier II organizations from all over North America that compete at the Tier I level at NAPHL events. It also includes teams from some of the strongest Tier II leagues in the United States. This event includes all 18U, 16U and 14U teams in the first match-ups of the season.

Since the inception of the SHOW League there have been an increased number of opportunities for players at the NAHL, NA3HL, and T1ER Leagues. The internal exposure elements inclusive of an exclusive tendering system and the strategically schedule events have proven to be very beneficial to the players competing in the SHOW League.

Admission is free to the public.

Seminars: As an additional element to the program this season, an NCAA education and compliance seminar will be presented to all players, coaches and parents during the NA3HL Showcase on Sunday, December 17th at 10am, 1pm, and 4pm. This will be the same presentation used in NAHL seminars and the focus will be on differences between NCAA Division I, Division III and ACHA, the breakdown of NCAA I conference landscape, NCAA Initial Eligibility information including important new rules going into effect this season and how future players will be affected, the recruiting process and how to market yourself.

Day 2 Recaps

14U SHOW: The Orland Park Vikings claimed a 4-1 victory over the North Carolina Golden Bears, with goals scored by Jonah Derengowski, Des Gill, Logan Hart, and Ethan Lopez, while Andrew Shuma scored for the Golden Bears in the third period. The Park City Ice Miners secured a 3-0 win against the Ontario Jr. Reign, with goals from Beau Blakley, Joseph Cronley, and a goal in the third period, while the Jr. Reign were unable to find the back of the net. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights dominated with a 6-1 victory over the Ontario Jr. Reign, featuring goals from Elijah Gable, Thomas Grimes, Aleksandar Brnilovich, Ryan Faivre, and Ryan Fitzmeyer, while Richard Whitehead scored the lone goal for the Jr. Reign.

16U SHOW: The Orland Park Vikings secured a 3-0 victory over the Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue, with goals from Purpura Jacob, Gawel Mitchell, and Degen Max. The Tampa Bay Crunch 07’s triumphed 7-5 over the California Wave, featuring Tampa goals from Joseph Pocrnic, PJ Johnson, Colby Taylor, and CJ Hovan. Anthony Trutanich, Jeremy Nash, Luke Torres, Owen Lord, and Brian Pajar scored for the Wave. The Chicago Jets secured a 3-1 victory against the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights, with goals from Grey Dengler and Marty Nitsche, while Tate Morrison scored the lone goal for the Jr. Golden Knights. In a dominating performance, the Rose City Pats blanked the Utah Jr. Mustangs Red with a 3-0 win, featuring goals from Beaudry Adrian, Ethan Foster, and Sarkis Zhamkochyan. The Chicago Hawks secured a 2-1 victory over Pilot Mound Hockey Academy, with goals from Penn Russell and Frank Mandarino, while Zane Price scored for Pilot Mound. The Ontario Jr. Reign defeated the Texas Brahmas with a 4-1 score, featuring goals from Markus Mineck, Teegan Gardner, Daniel Namecek for the Reign while Coy Beane buried for the Brahmas. The Tampa Bay Crunch 08’s claimed a 3-0 victory over the Park City Ice Miners, with goals from Drake Munroe and Robbie Schlifke. The Midwest Blackbirds secured a 5-2 victory over Cherry Creek Hockey Academy, with goals from Jaxson Joiner, Luke Hayden, Connor Friesema, and Cillian Sheehan. SISU Thunderbirds emerged victorious with a 8-1 score over the Portland Winterhawks. The North Carolina Golden Bears secured a 1-0 victory over the St. Louis Sting, with Cameron McClain scoring the lone goal. In a thrilling overtime match, the New Jersey Jr. Titans secured a 3-2 win over Tahoe Prep Academy. Dewight Singleton scored twice for New Jersey and Alex Doenias also tallied a goal. 

18U SHOW: The Texas Jr. Brahmas secured a 3-1 victory over the Rose City Pats, with Tyler Jones contributing a goal and two assists to lead his team to success. In a closely contested match, the New Hampshire Monarchs emerged victorious with a 4-3 win over the Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue, featuring goals from Noah Levesque, Brayden Mackenize, Nicolas Cox, and Aiden Palmeter. The SISU Thunderbirds secured a 5-2 win against Denver East, with Alexander Morrison, Michael Brello, Oliver Perkins, Chandler Smith, and Eli McCarthy contributing goals to their victory. The San Diego Jets HS earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Dallas Penguins, highlighted by goals from Cole Craft and Arya Nahavandi. The Houston Aeros dominated the match, securing a 6-1 victory over the New Mexico Ice Wolves, with Kurtis Brachlow leading the scoring with two goals. The Chicago Flames emerged victorious with a 5-1 win against Pilot Mound Academy, featuring goals from Nick Zizas, Sam Harper, Joe Corridon, Jason Gongol, and Tyson Wilhelm. In an overtime thriller, the Chicago Hawks secured a 2-1 victory over Golden State Elite, with Conner Jason scoring the game-winning goal in the extra period. The New Jersey Jr Titans secured a 6-3 win over the Texas Tigers, with Yehor Chyzhevskyi, Matteo Lopez, Rhys Bonvie, Devonte Krizka, Declan McMahon, and Hays Poole contributing to the scoring. The Clearwater Ice Storm dominated the match, securing a 7-1 victory over Maple Grove Jr. Gold, with multiple players contributing to their impressive goal tally. The St. Louis Sting secured a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Little Flyers, with goals from Conner Blair, Konnor Goclan, Will Schuler, and Ben Heuerman. The Ontario Jr. Reign secured a 3-2 victory over Monument Hockey Academy, with Dominic Anton, Jan Valasek, and Dylan Woodward finding the back of the net for Ontario. In an overtime thriller, the Chicago Jets secured a 4-3 victory over Sea Hawks HC, with Chris Cerven scoring the game-winning goal in the extra period. Tri-Valley Hockey Association dominated the match, securing a 5-1 victory over Utah Jr. Mustangs Red, with Matthew Hague contributing to the scoring. In an overtime thriller, Tahoe Prep secured a 2-1 victory over Pacific Ridge Hockey Club, with Derrick Pedersen scoring the game-winning goal in the extra period. The Texas Tigers secured a 4-3 victory over New Hampshire Monarchs, with Carter Constantino, Andrew Chan, Hudson Haasz, and Henry Pinkerman contributing to the scoring. The New Jersey Jr Titans defeated the Clearwater Ice Storm with a final score of 4-0. Bradan Conroy, Rhys Bonvie, Nicholas Blanchette, and Josh Bain scored for the Titans. The Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue secured a 6-3 victory over the Maple Grove Jr. Gold. Keegan Clark, Easton McDonald, Ethan Baird, Anders Waugaman, Mikko Anderson, and Brayden Murphy contributed to the Mustangs' win. The SISU Thunderbirds dominated with an 8-1 triumph over the Rose City Pats. Chandler Smith, Drew Lause, Andy James, Tanner Foley, Colin McConnell, Oliver Perkins, and Eli McCarthy scored for the Thunderbirds. The Chicago Jets defeated the Houston Aeros with a convincing 8-0 score. Karsten Ewert, Matthew Lizak, Nicholas Scavone, Liam Keohane (2), Ethan Walsh, and Nicholas Scavone contributed to the Jets' victory. The Ontario Jr. Reign 18U emerged victorious over the Texas Jr. Brahmas with a 5-2 score. Patrik Cech, Dominic Anton, Matthew Cavanaugh, and Michael Savic scored for the Reign. The Chicago Flames secured a 7-4 win over the Dallas Penguins. Jason Gongol, Zach DeGen, Nick Zizas, and Gavin Hayes contributed to the Flames' victory, while Tyson Wilhelm, Kristofer Pope, Brady Armstrong, and Tyson Wilhelm scored for the Penguins. The Chicago Hawks dominated with a 10-1 victory over the Sea Hawks HC. Brian Manns, Conner Jason, TJ Stroker (2), Leo Kotor, Josh Taylor, Andrew Hanlon, Kyle Alpe, and Orynn Freedman scored for the Hawks. Pilot Mound Academy secured a 4-1 win over Golden State Elite, with goals from Cayden Adams, Jaden Mah, Matteo Andrew, and Griffin Erickson. San Diego Jets HS defeated Monument Hockey Academy with a final score of 7-0. Jeremy Adkins (2), Quan Dang, Devin Edoria, Ahad Biabani, James Schneider, and Matthew Matsuda scored for the Jets. The Tahoe Prep won in a shootout against the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Payne Sweeny and Benton Walshaw scored for Tahoe Prep, while Aiden Garner and Mason Rhodus scored for the Ice Wolves.
