SHOW League completes Day 1 in Blaine

The NAPHL’s SHOW League began its second event of the season at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, MN, on Friday, December 15th as the 14 and 16U teams took to the ice. The event runs from December 15-18. The event is being played in cooperation with a T1ER 18U and 16U regional event, as well as, the 2023 NA3HL Showcase.

The SHOW is a collection of Tier I and Tier II organizations from all over North America that compete at the Tier I level at NAPHL events. It also includes teams from some of the strongest Tier II leagues in the United States. This event includes all 18U, 16U and 14U teams in the first match-ups of the season.

Since the inception of the SHOW League there have been an increased number of opportunities for players at the NAHL, NA3HL, and T1ER Leagues. The internal exposure elements inclusive of an exclusive tendering system and the strategically schedule events have proven to be very beneficial to the players competing in the SHOW League.

Admission is free to the public.

Day 1 Recaps

14U SHOW: The Orland Park Vikings shutout the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights 6-0. Six different Viking skaters found the back of the net. The Park City Ice Miners picked up a 3-2 victory in a shootout over the North Carolina Golden Bears. Makai Tu and John Hemmesch scored in regulation for Park City. Orland Park found the back of the net nine times in their matchup against the Ontario Jr. Reign, winning 9-4. Eddie Lieber and Ryan Joy both had multiple goals. Beau Blakley scored with 37 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Ice Miners past the Jr. Golden Knights 6-5. John Hemmesch had a hat trick in the win. The Golden Bears won 6-5 against the Jr. Reign in a 6-5 shootout. James Bradshaw, Max Hooper, Noah Myers, and Andrew Shuma all scored goals for North Carolina. 

16U SHOW: The Tampa Bay Crunch 08’s secured a 3-1 victory over the Utah Jr. Mustangs Red. Hayden Jones and Colton Caputo contributed to the Crunch's win with key goals in the second and third periods. In a dominant performance, the Tampa Bay Crunch 07’s defeated the North Carolina Golden Bears with a commanding 10-1 score. Collin Friedrich stood out, netting three goals for the Crunch in a remarkable offensive display. Pilot Mound Hockey Academy showcased their prowess with a resounding 12-0 win over the Midwest Blackbirds. Zane Price, Jack Adams, and Benson Hirst were among the goal scorers contributing to Pilot Mound's victory. The Chicago Jets secured a 2-0 win against Cherry Creek Hockey Academy, with Jake Sulek scoring both goals in the third period. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights emerged victorious with a 5-3 win over the Chicago Hawks. William Lefebvre, Casyn Simmons, and Tommy Trent were among the goal scorers for Vegas, while Dennis Nikolaev and Dominic Gregori found the net for the Hawks. The Texas Brahmas and Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue battled in regulation, ultimately decided in a shootout won by the Brahmas. William Heraldez, Hillard Johnmeyer, and Blake Perry scored for the Brahmas, while Danger Sessions and Camden McDonald contributed goals for the Jr. Mustangs. The California Wave secured a 5-1 victory over the Park City Ice Miners, with Owen Lord and Joonmoh Kim among the goal scorers for the Wave. Orland Park Vikings dominated with a 7-0 win over the Rose City Pats, led by Mitchell Gawel who had two scores. The SISU Thunderbirds claimed a 6-4 victory over the New Jersey Jr. Titans, with Samuel Waselko and Garrett Vipperman among the goal scorers for the Thunderbirds. The Portland Winterhawks secured a 6-0 victory over the Ontario Jr. Reign, with Ryden Yokoyama and Cooper Jones contributing to the Winterhawks' offensive prowess. Tahoe Prep Academy emerged victorious with a 2-1 overtime win against the St. Louis Sting. Jordan Janeway scored the netted the overtime winner for Tahoe Prep. The Midwest Blackbirds emerged victorious with a 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Crunch 07’s. Luke Hayden, Dalton Mccrea, James Meekma, and Jaxson Joiner led the Blackbirds' comeback, securing the victory while Joseph Pocrnic, Rory Harrell, Collin Friedrich, and PJ Johnson tallied goals for the Crunch. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights picked up a 5-0 victory over the Texas Brahmas, led by goals from Alfred Bauchrowitz, Elliott Murch, Tate Morrison, Charles Edwards, and William Lefebvre. The Orland Park Vikings clinched a 5-0 victory over Cherry Creek Hockey Academy. . The Rose City Pats emerged victorious with a 3-2 overtime win against the Tampa Bay Crunch 08’s. Jordan Marquez and Ethan Foster contributed to the Pats' scoring, and Richard Walla sealed the victory in overtime. Pilot Mound Hockey Academy emerged victorious with a 6-2 win over the New Jersey Jr. Titans, with Benson Hirst leading the scoring for Pilot Mound. The North Carolina Golden Bears secured a 3-2 victory against the Chicago Jets. Nicholas Van Kula and Cameron McClain's contributions proved crucial for the Golden Bears, countering late goals from Jack Jesanis and Grey Dengler for the Jets. The Park City Ice Miners clinched a 5-4 victory over the Ontario Jr. Reign, with goals from Wyatt Strahan, Jason Moody, Hunter Hutchison, and Conner Richardson. The Portland Winterhawks continued their winning streak on the day with a 10-0 victory over the Utah Jr. Mustangs Red. Braden Payne, Cooper Miller, and Kruz Barnes contributed to the Winterhawks' dominant offensive performance. The Chicago Hawks secured a 5-1 victory over Tahoe Prep Academy. Dennis Nikolaev, John Igric, Nicholas Brascia, Giancarlo Petrucci, and Penn Russell each found the net for the Hawks. California Wave secured a decisive 7-1 victory over SISU Thunderbirds. Multiple goal scorers, including Hayden Walkinshaw and Jeremy Nash, contributed to the Wave's strong performance. The Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Sting. Andrew Tuffli scored for the Sting in the first period, but the Mustangs mounted a comeback with Luke McKinney and Austin Perkins finding the net.
