Des Moines 18U forward Berglund signs NAHL tender

January 7, 2022

The Des Moines Buccaneers AAA organization of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 18U forward Ryan Berglund has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Minnesota Magicians of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.

Berglund, 18, is in his first season playing for Des Moines and second season overall in the NAPHL. The 5’8/160 lbs. native of Mahtomedi, MN, is currently 4th in team scoring with 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in 20 NAPHL games played to date.

Berglund previously played in the NAPHL during 2019-20 season for the Minnesota Magicians 18U team, where he had 14 points in 8 NAPHL games that season.

He also previously played high school hockey in Minnesota for Mahtomedi High for three seasons.

He is the 7th player from the Bucs 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender so far this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2022 NAHL Draft.
