Colorado Springs 18U forward Ring signs NAHL tender

Brayden Ring played in the NAPHL 18U All-Star Game back on December 20, 2020.

The Colorado Springs Tigers of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 18U forward and NAPHL All-Star Brayden Ring has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the New Mexico Ice Wolves of the NAHL’s South Division.

Ring, 18, has played the past three seasons in the NAPHL and played the past two seasons with Colorado Springs Tigers 18U team. The 5’10/175 lbs. native of Parker, CO, finished second on his team in points both years and earned the honor of being named to the NAPHL 18U All-Star team during the 2020-21 season.

During the 2020-21 season, Ring post 14 points in 19 NAPHL games and during the 2019-20 campaign he posted 16 points in 20 NAPHL games played. Prior to playing for Colorado Springs, Ring played in the NAPHL during the 2018-19 season for the Alaska Oilers 16U team, where he recorded 6 points in 14 NAPHL games that season.

Ring is excited to make the jump to the North American Hockey League and join the Ice Wolves organization. “I am extremely excited to join the team and I believe the Ice Wolves have all of the tools to help me grow during the next steps of my hockey career,” said Ring.

New Mexico Ice Wolves head coach Phil Fox believes Ring will bring speed and grit to the team noting, “We’re excited about the signing Ring who is a hard-working forward who plays with an edge. He will bring tempo and grit to our lineup. He’s a player who likes going to the hard areas and competing.”

"Brayden has been an important part of our team the last two years and we are all excited for him and his family. A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2021 NAHL Draft.
