Florida 18U forward Cohen signs NAHL tender

May 19, 2020
The Florida Alliance AAA hockey program of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that 18U forward and All-Star Jack Cohen has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the New Mexico Ice Wolves of the NAHL’s South Division.

Cohen, 18, has spent the past two seasons playing for the Florida Alliance 18U team in the NAPHL. The 5’9/160 lbs. native of Miami, Florida, led his team in scoring during the 2019-20 season, averaging over a point per game with 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) in 33 games played.

Cohen was selected to and played in the 2019-20 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game and was also named to the All-NAPHL 18U Team (Elite Division) after an impressive season and playoff run.

“I am very excited about signing Jack to a tender. I watched a lot of film on him and I really like his game,” Fox said. “He competes in all three zones and has great offensive instincts. Jack can make plays under pressure and will make the players around him better also. We can’t wait for Jack to join us in New Mexico,” said New Mexico head coach Phil Fox.

Cohen played for the Florida Alliance 18U team in the NAPHL during the 2018-19 season, recording 20 points in 20 games played.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on July 21, 2020.
