Northeast 18U forward Musella signs NAHL tender

November 22, 2019
The Northeast Generals of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are excited to announce that 18U forward John Musella has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the NAHL’s Northeast Generals of the East Division.

So far in 2019-20 season, the first for the Generals in the NAPHL, Musella, 18, leads the team with 12 goals and has added 18 assists for 30 points. In NAPHL action, he has recorded seven points in 12 games played.

He has also played in nine NA3HL games for the Northeast Generals and has recorded three points.

The 5’10/170 lbs. native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania native joined the Generals this year following 18U Head Coach Eric Progen whom he previously played for in the NAPHL during the 2018-19 season with the Valley Forge Minutemen.

“John has consistently improved every step of the way. He works very hard and it pays off. He needed to work on the defensive side of the puck the most and it has been a real focus for him. He keeps getting better and I am very excited for John to take this next step in his development. The improvement needs to continue but I am very confident in John’s willingness to work hard both on an off the ice,” said 18U Head Coach and NAHL Assistant Coach Eric Progen.

“John has been practicing with us a lot and his offensive game is there already. He still needs to work on battles on the walls and being stronger on the puck but I am very confident in the work he is putting in with Eric both at U18 and NAHL practice. It’s great that we are able to tender from within our own organization. John is a great kid that we think will have a big impact for us,” said Generals GM Bryan Erikson.

Musella joins other recent Generals players tendering with the NAHL Northeast Generals. He joins teammate Adam Smith and NA3HL leading scorer Kolye Bankauskas.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
