New Jersey forward Gulash makes NCAA D1 commitment

October 31, 2019

Ladder of Development: New Jersey forward Gavin Gulash played three seasons in the NAPHL prior to his three seasons in the NAHL, which then led to his NCAA Division 1 commitment.

The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Gavin Gulash has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for the Robert Morris Colonials, who play in Atlantic Hockey. His commitment begins in the fall of 2020.

Gulash, 20, is in his third season with the Titans. During his first two seasons with the team, Gulash had 60 points (39 goals and 21 assists) in 106 games. This year the 6’2/190 lbs. native of Red Bank, New Jersey, has three points (1 goal and 2 assists) in five games.

Gulash was selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the East Division Team. Overall in 111 career NAHL games, Gulash has recorded 63 points.

Gulash came up through the New Jersey Titans Youth Hockey Program where he played for the Midget Major 18U teams and Midget Minor 16U teams. The New Jersey Junior Titans are members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL). Gulash spent three seasons playing in the NAPHL and played in the 16U All-Star Game in 2015-16 and the 18U All-Star Game in 2016-17. In 66 career NAPHL games, Gulash recorded 110 career points.

“This is a dream come true to announce my commitment to play Division 1 college hockey at Robert Morris,” stated Gulash. “I can’t thank my family, teammates, and coaches enough for helping me get to this point,” concluded Gulash.

“We are so proud of Gavin and the hard work he has put in during his time as a Titan,” stated head coach Craig Doremus.  “Gavin is a kid who went through the development process with the Junior Titans at the youth level before joining our North American League team.  He has really developed his game along the way and worked his way into being a huge part of our team.  Gavin’s ability to create offense and score goals has been critical to our success.  His play away from the puck in all 200 feet has come a far way and will help him at the college level.  Going to Robert Morris is a great fit for Gavin as he will be able to contribute for them from day one,” concluded Doremus.

Robert Morris University is in Moon Township, PA. The Colonials are coached by Derek Schooley. They currently have a 3 – 4 record.
