Blizzard goaltender McBey makes NCAA D1 commitment

Ladder of Development: Blizzard goalie George McBey spent several years developing in the NAPHL prior to playing in the NAHL.

The St. Cloud Blizzard (formerly the Brookings Blizzard) of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that goaltender George McBey has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Alabama-Huntsville in the WCHA.
 
McBey, 21, just completed his third and final season playing in the NAHL. The 6’2/181 lbs. native of Dallas, Texas spent the majority of the 2018-19 season with the Blizzard. McBey appeared in 24 games for the Blizzard, posting a 6-16-0 record with a 3.81 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.
 
McBey also saw time during the 2018-19 season with both the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Springfield Jr. Blues. He was also selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Central Division team.
 
McBey spent the 2017-18 season with the Minnesota Magicians and made his NAHL debut during the 2016-17 season with the Wichita Falls Wildcats.
 
McBey is a ladder of development success story, having previously played in the NAPHL for three seasons with HC Dallas from 2014-17.
 
During the 2016-17 season, he was selected to and played in the NAPHL 18U All-Star Game.
