Madison 18U defenseman Sullivan signs NAHL tender
April 4, 2019
The Madison Capitols of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman Sean Sullivan has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Janesville Jets of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Sullivan, 17, just completed his third season playing in the NAPHL, which have all been spent with the Madison Capitols.
The 5’9/155 lbs. native of Cross Plains, Wisconsin, appeared in 16 games during the 2018-19 regular season and recorded five assists. He also appeared in four Dixon Playoff games and recorded two assists.
“Sean had a tremendous NAPHL year for the Madison Capitols. We are excited to add Sean to our “D” corps for next season," said Jets head coach Corey Leivermann.
Overall in his three-year NAPHL career, Sullivan has played in 59 regular season games and recorded 24 points.
He was also selected to and played in the 2018 NAPHL 16U All-Star Game for the East All-Stars.
He is the fifth player from the Madison Capitols 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender so far this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
