Rocky Mountain 16U defenseman Mitchell called up to WHL

January 21, 2019
The Rocky Mountain RoughRiders of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) is proud to announce that 16U defenseman Makai Mitchell has been called up to the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.

The 6’1”/195 lbs. native of Ft Collins, Colorado, played 3 games with the Pats in mid-November and re-joined the team on January 3.

During the 2018-19 Season in the NAPHL, Mitchell appeared in eleven games and recorded 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).  Mitchell was selected to the NAPHL 2017-18 All Star Game and played on Team West.

"I couldn’t be happier for Kai and his family.  Kai has worked really hard here in our RoughRiders program, embraced the challenges and put in the work and it showed in his development.  I’m excited for what’s still to come for him as well,” said Coach Greg Vanover.
