Meijer AAA 16U goalie O'Gwen signs NAHL tender

November 16, 2018
The Meijer AAA hockey organization of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 16U goaltender Liam O’Gwen has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Northeast Generals of the NAHL’s East Division.

O’Gwen, 16, is in his first season of playing in the NAPHL for the Meijer AAA organization. The 6’0/183 lbs. native of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, is one of the top goalies in the NAPHL’s 16U Division so far this season.

He has played in six games to date, posting a 4-1-1 record and ranks in the Top 10 in both save percentage (.938) and goals against average (1.66).

O’Gwen played very well at the last event in Texas, winning both of his starts and allowing just one goal in each of the two wins, and facing a total of 43 shots.

He is the first player from the Meijer AAA 16U team to sign an NAHL tender this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
