Sioux Falls 16U defenseman Arneson signs NAHL tender

November 2, 2018
The Sioux Falls Power of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 16U defenseman Blake Arneson has become the first NAPHL player to sign a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender for the 2018-19 season, as he has tendered with the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL’s Central Division.

Arneson, 16, is off to a great start in the 2018-19 campaign. For a second consecutive month, he
earned the NAPHL’s Peak Performer nod for all 16U defensemen playing in the NAPHL.

The 5’8/150 lbs. native of Red Wing, Minnesota, totaled five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in the four games of the second event in Blaine in October as the Power posted a 1-2-1 record. His best game came in a 3-2 overtime loss against the Esmark Stars, where he scored both Power goals.

Arneson currently leads all NAPHL 16U defensemen in scoring with 11 points in eight games played.

“I would like to thank the Bismarck Bobcats organization, coaches and scouts for putting their faith in me and extending the tender to play for them in 2019-20 season. I also look forward to playing as an affiliate player during the 2018-19 season, allowing me to play in some games with the Bobcats while continuing to play with the Sioux Falls Power 16U team in the NAPHL,” said Arneson.

Arenson is the first player from the Sioux Falls 16U team and the first NAPHL player overall to sign an NAHL tender.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
