Meijer 18U forward Jakrzewski signs NAHL tender

December 28, 2017
The Meijer AAA organization of the NAPHL is pleased to announce that 18U forward Keaton Jakrzewski has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Janesville Jets of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.

Jakrzewski, 18, is in his third season with the Meijer organization and second season with the 18U team. So far this season in NAPHL play, the 5’10/150 lbs. native of Lake Orion, Michigan, has 8 points (6 goals, 2 assists) in 14 games played.

Last season, Jakrzewski had 11 points in 22 games played. Overall in his 18U career, he has recorded 19 points in 36 games played.

Jakrzewski played the 2015-16 season with the Meijer AAA 16U team where he had 10 points in 25 games played.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to play for a great NAHL program like the Janesville Jets,” said Jakrzewski. “I’m looking forward to using my speed, creativity, and tenacity to be a major factor in the organization’s future success.”

“Keaton is a player that will compete hard every single game. He’s been an awesome leader for us on and off the ice. The Jets are getting a phenomenal kid,” said Brian Sherry, Meijer 18U Head Coach

“Keaton has had an outstanding NAPHL season thus far. I’ve had the opportunity to watch him play several times, and I love how hard he competes every single game,” said Jets assistant coach Corey Leivermann.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
