Sioux Falls 18U forward Jaworski signs NAHL tender

November 22, 2017
The Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 18U forward John Jaworski has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Northeast Generals of the NAHL’s East Division.

Jaworski, 17, is in his second season with the Jr. Stampede program. The native of Grinnell, Iowa, is tied for 4th in team scoring so far this season as he has recorded 9 points in 11 NAPHL games in 2017-18.

Jaworski (5’10/160) Jaworski has 4 goals, 10 assists, +14 through 17 overall games this season. During the 2016-17 season, he played a crucial role in the Jr. Stampede 16U team earning a birth to their first ever 16U National Tournament appearance.

"John came to Sioux Falls weighing 135 pounds a little over a year ago and is currently 160 pounds, which shows John’s commitment to his development and the work he put in this off-season skating with Noelle Needham and training at Sanford Power,” said 18U Jr Stampede Head Coach Dan Houck.

"John’s work ethic is outstanding and I think that speaks volumes about what the Northeast Generals are getting by tendering him – an adamant winner.  John has tremendous vision, presence, and a high-end hockey IQ which will allow him to be successful at the NAHL level. John’s ceiling as a player is very high and I only think he will get better as he continues to grow and physically mature; something I am sure the Northeast Generals staff saw in his play early this season in the NAPHL,” says Houck.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
