Meijer 18U defenseman Rewerts signs NAHL tender

May 27, 2016
The Meijer AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman Collin Rewerts has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Shreveport Mudbugs, who are members of the NAHL’s South Division.

Rewerts, 18, just completed his fifth and final season playing in the NAPHL for the Meijer/Lansing Capitals organizations, which began back during the 2011-12 season as a 14U Bantam.

The native of St. Johns, Michigan, had his best career season in 2015-16 for the Meijer 18U team, recording 11 points in 24 regular season games, which led the team in scoring for all defensemen. Rewerts (6’2/194) also had two goals in six playoff games as Meijer made it all the way to the 18U Championship Game.

Rewerts has played in the NAPHL for the last five seasons. He broke into the league with the Lansing Capitals 14U team during the 2011-12 season. That continued for two more years with the 16U team, including being a part of the Lansing 16U team that won the NAPHL Championship in 2014.

In total Rewerts has appeared in 87 career NAPHL regular season games and recorded 34 points. In addition, he played in 19 playoff games, recording five points.

He is the 6th player from the Meijer AAA 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender this season.

A tender is a contract a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 7, 2016.
