Esmark 18U foward Johns signs NAHL tender
May 9, 2016
The Esmark Stars, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that forward Brendan Johns has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Amarillo Bulls, who compete in the NAHL’s South Division.
Johns, 18, just completed his second season of playing for the Stars organization in the NAPHL. This was his first season with the 18U team. The native of Greensburg, PA, led the Stars 18U team in scoring this season with 17 points in 25 regular season games. Johns (6’4/180) also had one point in four playoff games.
Johns was also selected to and played in the 2015-16 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game for Team OT Sports and he will be playing in the 2016 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament for Team South.
Last season, Johns played for the Esmark Stars 16U team, recording 17 points in 20 regular season games and five points in four playoff games.
In his two-year NAPHL career, Johns has recorded 34 points in 45 games played.
He is the second Stars 18U player to sign an NAHL tender this season.
A tender is a contract a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 7, 2016.
