Esmark 18U forward Ernst signs NAHL tender
May 3, 2016
The Esmark Stars, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 18U forward Caleb Ernst has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Johnstown Tomahawks of the NAHL’s East Division.
Ernst, 17, just completed his first season playing the NAPHL for the Stars. The native of Overland Park, Kansas, finished 4th in team scoring this season with 14 points (8 goals, 6 assists) in 25 games played.
“Caleb is a prototypical power forward that should do well at the NAHL level. He has the size, tenacity and game to succeed at the next level in that position,” said Esmark 18U head coach Dave Kosick.
Ernst was also selected to play in the 2016 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament, which will take place from May 13-15 in Edina, Minnesota.
“Caleb is a big, power forward-type player with big potential,” Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia said. “He is willing to battle for pucks and go to the net for scoring opportunities.”
A tender is a contract a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 7, 2016.
