St. Louis defenseman Rosa signs an NAHL tender

December 16, 2015
The St. Louis Selects, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman and team captain Joey Rosa has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Brookings Blizzard. The Blizzard compete in the NAHL’s Central Division.

Rosa, 17, is in his second season playing for the Selects 18U and fourth season overall with the Selects organization in the NAPHL. The native of Ballwin, Missouri, is having a career year so far this season as he leads the Selects 18U team in scoring as a defenseman with 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 18 games played.

Rosa (6’0/205) is coming off his best event to date where he recorded eight points in five games at the fourth NAPHL Showcase in Blaine as the Selects put together a 3-2 record.

Last season, Rosa played for the Selects 18U tea, recording 14 points in 20 games played. He also played for Team Central at the 2015 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament in Ann Arbor, MI.

Rosa began his NAPHL career during the 2011-12 season playing for the Selects 14U team. He has played in 74 career NAPHL regular season games and recorded 48 points. In 14 career playoff games, Rosa has 11 points.

Rosa is the first player from this year’s St. Louis Selects team to sign an NAHL tender

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2016.
