Meijer 18U forward Olen signs NAHL tender
December 5, 2015
The Meijer AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 18U forward Zack Olen has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Topeka Roadrunners. Topeka currently competes in the NAHL’s South Division.
Olen, 17, is currently in his second season playing in the NAPHL and first season with the Meijer organization. The native of Midland, Michigan, has recorded ten points this season (5 goals, 5 assists) in 15 games played.
Last season, Olen (5’11/170) tallied 17 points in 20 games played with the Lansing Capitals 16U team. He was also recognized for his academic achievements as part of the NAPHL All Academic team.
In 39 career NAPHL games, Olen has recorded 31 points, including 13 goals. He has also appeared in four career NAPHL playoff games, recording four points.
Olen is the fourth player from this year’s Meijer AAA 18U team thus far that has signed an NAHL tender.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2016.
