Meijer 18U forward Ledford signs NAHL tender
November 18, 2015
The Meijer AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 18U forward Grant Ledford has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Aberdeen Wings. The Wings compete in the NAHL’s Central Division.
Ledford, 17, is in his second season playing in the NAPHL and first for the Meijer program. The native of Jackson, Michigan, is off to a good start this season, recording seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in the first 15 games played.
At the latest event in Aston, Ledford (6’3/191) recorded two points as the 18U team put together a 3-2 record and stayed in 5th place in the 18U Division.
His best event to date came during the first event of the season when he recorded four points.
Last season, Ledford played in the NAPHL for the Lansing Capitals 16U team, recording nine points in 18 games. He also played in five games for the 18U team, where he recorded a goal. He also had four points in three playoff games.
He is the second Meijer player this season to sign an NAHL tender, joining teammate and defenseman Jonah Oman, who tendered with the Minnesota Magicians earlier this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2016.
