New Jersey 18U forward Mike Gelatt signs NAHL tender

January 13, 2015
The New Jersey Jr. Titans, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U forward Mike Gelatt has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Soo Eagles. The Eagles compete in the NAHL’s North Division.

Gelatt, 17, is in his third season of playing in the NAPHL for the New Jersey Jr. Titans organization. The native of Middletown, New Jersey, is having a very good year this year, having recorded 24 points in 19 NAPHL games played to date. That includes 9 goals and 15 assists, which ranks him 4th on the team in scoring. His 24 points also ranks him 7th among all NAPHL 18U scorers.

Gelatt (6’1/175) split time during the 2013-14 season with both the New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U and 18U team. The majority of the season was spent with the 16U team, where Gelatt was 3rd in team scoring with 43 points in 20 games played. He also had two points in four playoff games and appeared in four 18U games.

Gelatt appeared last season in the 2013 NAPHL 16U All-Star Game for Team Easton.

During the 2012-13 season, Gelatt played in 22 games for the New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U team, recording 10 points.

Gelatt is the second New Jersey 18U player to sign an NAHL tender this season, joining teammate Charlie Singerhouse (Amarillo).

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2015.
