Two more Jr. Ducks players sign NAHL tenders

December 29, 2014
The Anaheim Jr. Ducks, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that two more players from the organization have signed NAHL tender agreements.

18U defenseman Tyse Teague has signed an NAHL tender with the Bismarck Bobcats and 16U forward Jack Gates has signed an NAHL tender with the Janesville Jets.

Teague, 18, is in his third season of playing in the NAPHL with the Jr. Ducks organization. The native of Murietta, CA, is having a very good season to date with 14 points in 19 NAPHL games played. Teague (6’2/195) has four goals and 10 assists and two of his four goals have been game-winners. His 14 points ranks his 2nd among his team’s defensemen. Teague picked up three assists in the most recent NAPHL event in Blaine as Anaheim fashioned together a 4-1 record during the event.

During the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, Teague played with the Anaheim/Orange County HC 16U team. In 59 career NAPHL regular season games, Teague has recorded 32 points. He also has two goals in eight career NAPHL playoff games.

Gates, 16, is in his first season in his first season playing in the NAPHL and second overall for the Jr. Ducks. In 15 games played in the NAPHL so far this season, the native of Oceanside, California, has 28 points (7 goals, 21 assists). Overall, Gates has 66 points (16 goals and 50 assists) in 42 games.

Back on December 12th, Gates announced his commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey for Colorado College. Gates was also recently selected to play in the NAPHL 16U All-Star Game, which took place on December 7th in Blaine, Minnesota. Gates played well in the game, recording a goal and an assist for Team Blue in a 5-3 loss against Team White.

His 28 points is tied for 2nd in NAPHL 16U scoring and his 21 assists leads the league. Gates also played this summer at the USA Hockey Select 16 festival, where he had six points in five games played.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2015.
