Madison 18U forward Fitzjerrels signs NAHL tender

December 19, 2014
The Madison Capitols, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U forward Kasey Fitzjerrels has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Brookings Blizzard. The Blizzard compete in the NAHL’s Central Division.

Fitzjerrels, 17, has played for the Capitols organization for several years, although this is his first playing in the NAPHL. The native of Dubuque, Iowa, is having a very good season thus far recording 15 points in 19 NAPHL games to date. Overall, Fitzjerrels (6’1/180) has 25 points in 34 games played for Madison this season.

Last season, Fitzjerrels had 17 points in 43 games played for Madison’s 18U team.

Fitzjerrels scoring this season in the NAPHL has come in big bursts. Of the eight games he has recorded points in, five of those games have been multi-point games. That included two multi-point games during the last NAPHL event in Blaine, when Fitzjerrels had a three-point game in a 10-2 win over Pursuit of Excellence and a two-point game in an 8-1 win over Minnesota.

The Madison Capitols 18U team currently sits in 1st place in the 18U Division of the NAPHL with a 16-3-0 record. He is the fourth player from the 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2015.
