San Jose 18U forward Meure gets call to NAHL

October 30, 2014
The San Jose Jr. Sharks of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are excited to announce that 18U forward Ryan Meure has been called up to play for the Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) this weekend. The Brown Bears travel to Wenatchee, Washington, to play the Wenatchee Wild.

Meure, 17, is listed on the Brown Bears affiliate list and is eligible to play up to ten games for the Kenai River this season.  The native of Fremont, California, is in his third season of playing in the NAPHL for the Jr. Sharks.  This season, Meure (5’9/150) is tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) in 10 games to date.

In his NAPHL career, which spans the 18U, 16U and 14U levels, Meure has 38 points in 44 career games. He has also chipped in eight points in nine career playoff games.

“Ryan has worked hard the past few seasons and has earned this opportunity with Kenai. He has exceptional speed and a great shot which make him a valuable commodity at the next level. We hope he has a good experience and gets a good taste of what the next level is like,” said Jr. Sharks Player Advancement Coordinator, Mike Janda.

Meure, who tendered with Kenai last season but chose to stay home due to school obligations, will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend for the Brown Bears.
