With the Miners this season, Smith posted a goals against average of 1.95 to go along with a .921 save percentage in 13 appearances.

During his two year NAPHL career he played in 29 regular season games, posted a 14-12-2 record with a 2.52 goals against average and a 90.8% save percentage with two shutouts. He also played in seven career playoff games with a 2-4 record, a 2.31 goals against average and a 92.1% save percentage.

"Evan is a goaltender that we think has tremendous potential," Royals' General Manager Cameron Hope said. "We are very happy that Evan has chosen to pursue his hockey goals with our organization."
