Omaha 16U's advance to USA Hockey Tier I Nationals

The Omaha AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are the 2013-14 Central District U16 Tier 1 Champions for the first time in team history.

 

Omaha AAA 16U defeated the Milwaukee Jr Admirals , St Louis Blues and Chicago Mission in the Central District Finals that took place in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin last weekend

 

Omaha got goals from 5 different players. Tarek Baker (Verona , WI) and Van Barr (Kansas City , MO) paced the attack each with 2 goals. Cole Weaver (Champlin Park , MN) earned the win in the net with 22 saves for the Omaha AAA U16 Team in a dominating performance by the #2 nationally ranked team. 

 

Van Barr (Kansas City , MO) scored the only Omaha goal in regulation on the power play with Tarek Baker (Verona, WI) and Wade Allison (Mirtle , MB) assisting on the goal. Allison scored twice, including the game winner in the shootout and Baker added 1 as Omaha defeated St Louis 3-2 in a wild 7 round shootout. Darion Hanson (East Bethel , MN) earned the win in net for Omaha with 27 saves.

 

In a replay of the 2013 Championship Game Omaha AAA and The Chicago Mission squared off again for the Central District U16 Title. Omaha jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st period but Chicago came roaring back in a wild game reminiscent of the an 1980's NHL style game. Van Barr (Kansas City , MO) and Wade Allison (Mirtle , MB) both had 2 goals and 2 assists for the Omaha attack while Matt Pulver (Chippewa Falls , WI) , Ethen Frank (Omaha , NE) , David Brumm (Maple Grove , MN , and Tarek Baker (Verona , WI) all added a goal for the Omaha U16 offense. Cole Weaver (Champlin Park , MN) and Darion Hanson (East Bethel, MN) combined for the win in in the net.

 

Omaha now advances to the U16 Tier 1 National Championship in Green Bay , Wisconsin being held April 2 - April 6 , 2014. Omaha AAA will face The St Louis Blues , LA Jr Kings and Ohio Jr Bluejackets in their 1st three games next week.
