Anaheim 18U forward Wolivar signs NAHL tender

March 14, 2014
The Anaheim Jr. Ducks of the North American Prospects Hockey League are pleased to announce that 18U forward Zachary Wolivar has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Odessa Jackalopes. Odessa competes in the NAHL’s South Division.

Wolivar, 17, just completed his first season at the 18U level with the Jr. Ducks. The native of Laguna Niguel, California, appeared in all 24 NAPHL regular season games and recorded 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists). His 27 points was good for 3rd on the team in scoring this season.  Wolivar also had two points in four playoff games.

Wolivar helped the 18U Ducks to the 2013-14 regular season title in the 18U Division with a 21-3-0 record. Wolivar’s best part of the NAPHL season came during the October in event in San Jose and the November event in Romeoville when he had had a stretch of six games that netted 13 points.

This is Wolivar’s second season in the NAPHL. Last season, he played for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U team where he recorded 24 points in 22 games played. In his NAPHL career, Wolivar (5’11/155) has played in 46 career NAPHL regular season games, totaling 51 points. He also has recorded five points in eight career playoff games.

Wolivar is the fourth player for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U team to sign an NAHL tender this season joining teammates Elijiah Barriga (Amarillo), Paul Boutoussov (Corpus Christi) and Evan Nyhus (Janesville).

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
