Another successful NAPHL event in Blaine comes to a close

The ‘upset’ of the day happened in the first game of the day as the New Jersey Jr. Titans ran their record to 9-1-0 by defeating the previously unbeaten Omaha AAA team by a score of 3-2 in a shootout. Omaha fell to 9-0-1 in league play with the loss. Brandon Rozzi made 33 save and then stopped 9 of 10 Omaha shooters in the shootout. New Jersey finished the Blaine event a perfect 5-0, while Omaha finished 4-0-1. St. Louis got a three-point game from TJ Friedmann to defeat Atlanta, 7-1. The Selects finished the event with a 3-2 record, while Atlanta was 2-3. West Michigan got two goals from Dallas Tulik to edge the Detroit Falcons, 4-3. The Hounds finished with a 1-3- record in Blaine, while the Falcons went 0-5. Lansing got two points from Collin Rewerts in a 3-1 win over the Texas Tornado. The Capitals finished the event with a 3-1-1 record, while the Tornado were 2-2-1. In one of the better games of the event, in-state rivals San Jose and California met and it was a three-point effort from San Jose’s Matthew Ebertin that was the difference in a 5-3 win. The Sharks stayed in 1st place in the 16U Division with a 4-1 record in Blaine, while the Titans finished the event with a 2-3 record. Sam Barnes had a hat-trick to lead the Esmark Stars to a 5-2 win over the Phoenix Firebirds. Esmark finished the event with a very successful 4-1 mark, while Phoenix went 1-4. Brendan Doyle scored twice and Jaren Yatsu had three assists to lead the Pikes Peak Miners to a 6-5 win over the Anaheim Jr. Ducks. Pikes Peak finished the event with a 2-2-1 record, while Anaheim stayed in 2nd place in the 16U Division with a 4-1 record. In the final game of the event, Pursuit of Excellence shutout Cleveland, 12-0. William Daigneault had a six-point game and Griffen Outhouse posted the shutout. POE finished the event with a 3-2 record, Cleveland was 0-5.

 

In the first game of the day, Anaheim stayed in 1st place in the 18U Division with a 5-1 win over the Pursuit of Excellence. Paul Boutoussov scored twice and Elijiah Barriga had four points. Anaheim was undefeated at the event, going 5-0, while POE was 2-3. Grant Payne stopped all 11 shots that came his way and Corey Pelone had the game-winning goal as California shutout Cleveland, 3-0. The Titans finished the Blaine event with a 3-2 record, while Cleveland went 0-5. Esmark capped off a perfect Blaine event, going 5-0 which include a final day 4-2 win over Pikes Peak. Brian Dee scored twice for the Stars. The Miners finished the event with a 1-2-2 record. The Atlanta Fire got 29 saves from Eric Norris and a multi-point game from Zach Schingoethe in a 3-1 win over St. Louis.  Atlanta finished the event with a very successful 3-2 record, while the Selects went 1-4.  The Lansing Capitals got 19 saves from Jacob Gwillim and the game-winning goal from Sean Smalley in a 2-1 win over the Texas Tornado. Lansing joined Esmark as they only teams to go 5-0 at the Blaine event in the 18U Division. Texas finished the event with a 2-3 record. Cameron Clarke and Corey Siwula each scored twice as West Michigan defeated Detroit by a score of 6-1. The Hounds finished the event with a 3-1-1 record, while the Falcons picked up their first win of the season at the event, going 1-4. Forward Mathe Helt had a hat-trick and an assist to lead the San Jose Jr. Sharks to a 5-2 win over the Phoenix Firebirds. The Sharks finished the event with a 3-2 record, Phoenix went 1-4. Omaha made a statement on the final day with an 11-1 win over New Jersey in the final game of the event. Mason Kreuger had a hat-trick and Colton Fletcher had a four-point game. Omaha finished the event with a good 3-0-2 mark, while New Jersey finished with a 2-2-1 record.
